Vatic Visits Esports World Cup in Paris
While in Paris for our Clash of Clans Monthly Finals bootcamp this July, we had the opportunity to spend a day at the 2026 Esports World Cup and experience one of the biggest stages in esports.
This year's Esports World Cup is a historic one. For the first time, EWC is being held outside of Riyadh, with Paris welcoming more than 2,000 players and 200 clubs from around the world for seven weeks of competition.
Vatic Founder & CEO Lynn McKee and Community Lead Emilee Carter headed to Paris Expo Porte de Versailles to take it all in.
Experiencing EWC
Walking into the venue it really hits you. This is the World Cup of Esports.
Some of the largest esports organizations in the world were represented throughout the venue, alongside team booths, merchandise, fan experiences and competition stages built around some of the biggest titles in esports.
We spent the several hours exploring the venue and watching competition across PUBG, EA SPORTS FC, Street Fighter and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
It was also a chance to see how the world's leading esports organizations show up beyond competition. From booth design and merchandise to branding and fan experiences, there was inspiration everywhere.
The Key Crush
One of the coolest traditions at EWC is the Trophy System.
Every team starts with their own personalized key. When they're eliminated, they surrender it to the winner, who smashes it on stage in the Key Crusher. The crushed remains are encased in resin and added to the EWC Totem, a permanent “key graveyard” of eliminated competitors.
The champions then choose three crushed keys from opponents they defeated to embed in the base of their championship trophy.
Organizations are also competing for something bigger. Results across titles earn points toward the Club Championship, where they compete to be crowned the top esports organization at EWC.
Looking Ahead
For Vatic, the day meant so much more.
Seeing the world's top organizations competing on these stages was exciting and motivating. We left inspired by what's possible and even more focused on the future we're building.
Be The Vision.
